High School Students to Learn How to Deal with Grief and Loss Under Bramnick Bill
New Jersey high school students would learn how to deal with grief and loss under a new bill sponsored by Senator Jon Bramnick.
“Grief is one of the most complex emotions and perhaps the hardest to learn how to understand and manage,” said Bramnick (R-21). “Instead of leaving kids to try to figure it out on their own, we’re going to ensure that our high school students are taught how to recognize and effectively cope with feelings of grief and loss.”

“This bill addresses two important issues in the State’s workforce,” said Bramnick (R-21). “It will help fill the growing void of nurses as many trained professionals continue to leave the field, and it provides an attractive career path for qualified veterans. It is a perfect solution, fortifying the State’s healthcare industry that has been hard-hit by the exodus of crucial workers since the pandemic.”
Bramnick: Legislature Trying to Overrule Supreme Court, Turn Gun Owners Into Criminals
Senator Jon Bramnick said new gun legislation under consideration by the New Jersey Legislature goes too far in trying to restrict gun rights with serious potential consequences for law-abiding citizens:

“The Legislature is attempting to overrule the U.S. Supreme Court through legislation that would turn legal gun owners into criminals,” said Bramnick (R-21). “I’m concerned that simple mistakes could turn law-abiding people into criminals if they accidentally carry their firearm for protection in any of the many places prohibited by the bill, including parks, transit facilities, and college campuses. People might not realize they would be prohibited from carrying on private property without the owner’s consent, which could inadvertently turn renters into criminals in their own homes. If this bill becomes law, too many good people will find themselves on the wrong side of the law.”

“I’m glad the administration has finally agreed with Leader Oroho and Republicans who have been calling for the state to aggressively pursue tax fairness for New Jersey residents who continue to be unjustly taxed by New York and other states,” said Bramnick (R-21). “The bipartisan legislation that we announced yesterday is just the first step in addressing the serious and expensive inequities that Leader Oroho has been talking about for years. I know there are more solutions that we can all discuss to keep moving the ball forward.”

“We’re seeing more and more instances where flash mobs of shoplifters have run through clothing stores, pharmacies, and even a 7-Eleven recently where they smash and grab anything that isn’t bolted down,” said Bramnick (R-21). “If people want to do these crimes, they need to get the message that their next flash mob will be in jail.”

Bramnick: It’s Ridiculous Many People Who Are Harassed Can’t Get Restraining Orders
Senator Jon Bramnick said it’s ridiculous that people who are being stalked and harassed can’t go straight to court for a restraining order unless they are family members or in a relationship.

“It’s ridiculous that you can’t get a restraining order without filing criminal charges when you have a crazy neighbor who is harassing you or someone is stalking you,” said Bramnick (R-21). “A restraining order can help stop concerning behavior from turning into something more dangerous. Other states make it easier for victims of harassment to get protective restraining orders, and New Jersey should too.”

We commend the efforts of Senate President Scutari, Chairman Stack, and the committee members to break the logjam. We hope that today is only the beginning of a process that will result in filling the dozens of judicial vacancies that still remain. Such an action will allow the judiciary to address the thousands of cases that remain backed up all over the state.”
